Bobby joined the staff of FBC in April of 2005. Bobby, Shelley and Cory came back to FBC from First Baptist Church in Dickson, Tennessee. FBC Mt. Orab is home for Shelley who grew up in this church where her father, Bob Hatcher, served as pastor for over 25 years.
Bobby and Shelley enjoy camping with Cory and their friends and browsing antique shops together. Their son Cory is a student at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky.

Our Journey with God:
Shelley accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of nine, after attending Vacation Bible School, here at FBC Mt. Orab. I trusted Jesus as my Savior when I was fifteen while attending a revival with a friend at The Nazarene Church of Maysville, Kentucky. Shelley and I met while attending Morehead State University in Morehead, KY where we both earned degrees. We were married at FBC of Morehead on October 4, 1986.
We both accepted positions in Pikeville, Kentucky, Shelley as a Social Worker, while I was a radiological technologist. We joined FBC of Pikeville where we were both active in the music, Sunday School and youth ministries. During a youth missions trip in June of 1988, where we both served as counselors, we felt the Lord calling me into full-time Christian ministry. Shelley felt a re-affirmation of God’s calling as she had first felt His calling at age thirteen. We believe God calls a couple into ministry so they can serve together. We left Pikeville in September 1988 and came to Mt. Orab where God greatly blessed us with our son, Cory, in February 1989.
Believing God called us to be educated in order to best serve Him, we moved to Louisville, Kentucky in August 1989 to attend The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It was there I felt God calling me specifically to Children’s Ministry. We joined Highview Baptist Church where I served as Children’s Ministry intern. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Education with an emphasis in Children’s Ministry in May 1993.
Since then God called us to churches where we both served on staff. Blackshear Place Baptist Church, near Atlanta, was our first full-time church. There were 250 - 300 children in attendance on Sunday mornings. The Lord called us to FBC of Dickson, Tennessee in 1996 where I was the Minister to Children with 300 children on Sunday mornings. Shelley was the Director of the Child Development Center of FBC with 150 preschoolers. We were greatly blessed during this time of ministry. However, Shelley’s father, who had Parkinson disease, was experiencing diminished health, as was her mother. We felt God leading us to resign from FBC Dickson to return to Mt. Orab to care for family in October of 2000. We were thankful God provided me with a position in radiological technology; He is always faithful! We are so grateful for the time we were given to spend with Shelley’s father before he went home to be with Jesus.
In 2005 I was called to work bi-vocationally as the Minister to Children at FBC Mt. Orab while working full-time at Mercy Clermont Hospital. We feel blessed God has provided a position of ministry for us once again. We are so happy to be given the opportunity to work with the children in Mt. Orab and surrounding communities. We pray God will use us to teach the children about Him and His love for them.
